Lindsey Brooke Design was created in an attempt to fill up my creative cup again and pursue a life long dream of being an Interior Decorator. After lots of soul searching and finding my passion again for design I decided to pour all my thoughts, tips, and my design passion into this business. With a design background in fashion, I have always wanted to go into Interiors as well and never gave myself the opportunity. Since becoming a mom to my wonderful son in May of 2013, I have put my time, energy and focus into him. Now its time to take a little bit of that back and take a leap of faith and do something I love. I grew up and have lived all of my life in San Diego and the greater Los Angeles area. Currently residing in Thousand Oaks, CA with my loving husband, and our two adventurous boys James and Beau. I spend my days playing with my boys, enjoying California weather, and creating fun and beautiful spaces. I love blending in budget friendly and high end pieces to give you a unique one of a kind space. Whether you have a small budget or none at all I would love to help you create your dream room.

Tucked against the mountains in Southern California, this cottage was designed as a guest house for family and friends, and comfort guided every decision. Soft layered textiles, plush seating, and warm lighting make it the kind of place guests settle into the moment they arrive.

We leaned into rustic charm throughout, from the exposed wood beams overhead to the hardworking kitchen with its classic tile and timeless finishes. With the holidays coming and guest rooms filling up, it’s a good reminder that the most welcoming spaces don’t rely on decorations. They’re built on comfort, warmth, and a place to gather.

A very productive weekend at home… depending on how you define productive.

Why is designing for your own home so much harder? I’m literally just trying to recover a few chairs and a bench, and somehow I’ve pulled out at least 20 fabrics, moved them around the room, stared at them from every possible angle, and we are no closer to making a decision. At this point, the chairs may just stay unfinished forever.

Meanwhile, we did a deep purge of the kids’ hangout room closet, which somehow turned into everyone rediscovering toys and games they haven’t touched in years. So now my living room looks like toddlers live here again with marble runs, puzzles, and art supplies everywhere.

Apparently the secret to getting kids off screens is just hiding their own toys from them for a few years and then giving them back.

It’s safe to say I understand why people call NYC the city that never sleeps because, between Ali Faulkner | Orange County Interior Designer’ insanely good, jam-packed itinerary and the amount of content we captured along the way, I’m not sure I slept a wink?? How many photos is too many photos for design inspiration??? Asking for a friend who took almost 1,400 photos in four days....and by photos, I mean mostly floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and every little design detail that caught my eye. But now I’m curious, how does everyone organize all these photos so you can actually reference them later? Because I have a camera roll full of inspiration and absolutely no system for finding any of it again. Please help! This is my way of saying this isn’t the last you will see from our trip. I have sooo much to share, and it will definitely carry over to our newsletter. More on that soon!

It has been a little while since we shared some behind-the-scenes moments of our newest project, Heritage House, and all the pieces are starting to come together. We are now deep into the design phase, finalizing the materials for each space of the home. This is our biggest project to date, at just over 10,000 square feet, and we are jam-packing thoughtful details into every square inch.

It started with the floors, honed octagonal stone that feels cool and grounding and became the reason for everything layered above it. From there came jewel-toned inset tile in emerald and sapphire, hand-glazed so no two are ever quite the same. A hand-blocked floral that is a little faded and a little imperfect, which is entirely the point. And for the dining room, a scenic wallpaper that feels like a window into somewhere older and greener, a garden that never needs watering.

Meet the Zuma Ottoman, designed to feel playful yet timeless, with tailored upholstery and warm, natural materials. The oversized stripe and grid pattern came from vintage textiles we kept circling back to, and those soft blue-green tones are pulled straight from the coastal palette we’re always drawn to out here. To balance the softness of the fabric, we set it on a darker stained wood base with rounded legs for more warmth and presence. We loved the tension between the clean lines of the frame and the relaxed feel of the textile.

The scale of the pattern was intentional too. Bold enough to notice, classic enough to live with for years. It also works as a long bench or a coffee table ottoman, and the fabric can be swapped for anything in our current lineup. Available through Lindsey Brooke Home | LA Decor + Furniture.
