My answer? Spend your money on the things you’re actually going to feel and use every single day.
In your bedroom, I’d splurge on the rug.
Think about it—it’s one of the first things your feet touch when you get out of bed in the morning and one of the last things they touch at night. And unlike the rug in your living room, you probably aren’t eating over it, drinking red w**e over it, or having everyone in the house walk across it all day long.
So this is where I’d buy the beautiful rug. The soft one. The one that feels amazing under your feet and makes the entire bedroom feel more luxurious.
In the living room? I’d put that money into the sofa.
That’s where you’re going to sit every day. You’re going to watch TV there, have conversations there, take a nap there, have people over, curl up at the end of the day…you’re actually going to live on it.
Save on the rug. Save on the coffee table. Those are two things that are going to take a beating. Drinks get spilled, feet get put up, people walk across the rug all day long—and eventually, you may want to replace them.
Not every single thing in your house needs to be the most expensive option.
But the things your body actually touches and uses for hours every day?
That’s where I’d spend the money.
My rule is pretty simple: splurge where you’ll feel it. 🤍
