Let’s talk about Details!

They will be the small things in a space that you can’t take your eyes 👀off of!

Since I started designing, I never looked at chandelier shades as ordinary. Many fixtures come with a basic solid shade. And those have a place, but I found myself, adding a trim to them or recovering them.

For this particular Room Service client, we took a fabric from Brunschwig & Fils and took the ordinary white shades on her chandelier and covered them with it!
It’s personal, it’s curated, it’s interesting, it’s a small touch with big impact!

I say it all the time and I’ll say it again- get creative with your spaces- and incorporate things you LOVE!

Hit “Save” because you’re going to want to come back for this!

Window treatments can completely transform a room, but getting the details right makes all the difference.

For this recent project, we mixed high and low—investing in custom made drapery panels with fabric from Thibaut while pairing them with affordable, but quality hardware from TWOPAGES Because not every element in a room needs to be a splurge!

If you’re shopping for drapery panels, here are a few things I always consider:

WIDTH:
Most pre-made panels are single width, that is too skimpy for any sized window. You want a minimum of width and a half or more to look proper.

LENGTH:
Panels should just hit the floor, not puddle.

LINING:
Lining and interlining are key to preserving fabric, filtering light and privacy, as well as allowing the drapes to hang properly. This is also a detail that is missed with many pre-made panels.

HARDWARE + PLACEMENT:
Rods should extend beyond the window molding. Hang higher than window molding also. A good rule of thumb is to split the difference between the top of the window molding and the crown molding.

And remember—great design isn’t necessarily about spending the most money. It’s about knowing where to invest, where you can save, and which details make the biggest difference.
