We are celebrating my 48th birthday, and unplugging for an extended weekend (ok, I may share a little in our stories…😅) while we relax, recharge, and dance our days away in Ionia! 💃✨

The studio will be closed while we rest and recharge, we’ll be back at it with regular hours on September 1st. ❤️

Rhythm + Raku Fest is back, and this year we’re celebrating 10 YEARS OF BEALE POTTERY on October 10th! 🙌❤️

I’ve been sitting on some of these details for what feels like forever, and I’m so excited to finally share what we’ve been working on… 👀✨

We’re filling our backyard once again with killer live music, SIX kilns firing 300 handmade raku pumpkins, we’re bringing back clay games (with some seriously good prizes), good food + sweet brews, pottery, and friends. ❤️✨

Crews have not been able to service our area yet, and the power lines along our county road are ripped down for miles. We cannot open our studio doors until it’s safe, and we have power. We’ve heard rumors it could be a week, and some are saying it could be up to three. After getting out yesterday through the field, and seeing just some of the damage to our area… I can see how it might take longer than expected. It’s so widespread. 💔

Though it all feels devastating, I can’t help but look for the good - perspective, right? We are all safe, that’s first. The house and the studio are mostly unscathed… grateful for that. It’s also been incredibly heartwarming to see people coming together in the midst of this all to help one another in our Duneland community, and beyond. Family and friends, and neighbors helping neighbors… There is definitely some good to focus on here. ❤️✨

*Special thanks to our neighbors helping us keep our sump pump running, delivering coffee, and lots of support through all of this mess. We won the neighborhood lottery moving here. ❤️

We will continue to keep you informed about scheduled classes and events, and start working on a game plan to reschedule programming that has been/will be affected by the outage.

We are all ok. ❤️ Today’s storm whipped through our area quickly, and many of us were hit hard. Our county road is covered in downed trees and snapped/dangling power lines. We are without power, as many of our neighbors…

Classes are canceled today and tomorrow, and we will keep you posted beyond that.

We hope that everyone stayed safe. We’re headed out to help where we can. ❤️

About last night… ❤️

My heart is so full.

What started as an idea to bring clay people together for a night of storytelling became something even more meaningful than I had imagined. We gathered at our beautiful beach, shared a meal, listened to stories, laughed together, asked thoughtful questions, and made connections that I know will last well beyond one evening.

There is something incredibly special about the clay community. It has always been about so much more than making pots. It’s about generosity, mentorship, shared experiences, and the people who are willing to pass their stories on to the next generation. Last night reinforced why I love this community so deeply.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible panelists for sharing your wisdom, your honesty, and decades of experience. Those stories will stay with us for a very long time. ❤️

Thank you to all the clay enthusiasts who came, listened, participated, and supported this evening - you helped make it magical. ❤️✨

What excites me most is knowing that our clay community is far from fading - it’s growing. It’s vibrant. It’s welcoming. It’s filled with potters of every age who are eager to learn from one another and build something together. That’s exciting, and so valuable for us all. ❤️✨

Together with John Britt ‘s amazing three day workshop - Beale Pottery Summer Camp is off to an amazing start! ✨

Cheers to a week of muddy hands, new friendships, shared knowledge, and making memories we’ll be talking about for years to come. ❤️
