Precautions to Take NOW for Next Week:

1. Stock Up on Batteries in case the power goes out. Most MODERN gas fireplaces have battery backups. Most OLDER gas fireplaces will still work if the power is out. That "light switch" on the wall typically has NO electricity running to it. It just connects a circuit inside the gas fireplace. If your gas fireplace has a standing pilot - it will probably work - even if the power is out!

2. Move a ready supply of firewood or pellets under cover and close to the exterior door so it's readily accessible.

3. If you have a pellet stove or insert, get your battery backup or generator ready. USE A SURGE PROTECTOR. NEVER RUN A GENERATOR INSIDE YOUR HOME OR GARAGE.

4. Propane Users - Check your tank NOW.
