People always ask me how I knit so fast.

There are definitely a few variables—project choice, needle size, yarn, etc.—but my most consistent trick for staying speedy is keeping a nice, tight tension on my working yarn.

When the yarn stays taut, my right hand doesn’t have to stop and think about where to put the needle. It just grabs the yarn and GOES. 😂

And let’s be real… I’ve been knitting professionally for almost 20 years, so at this point my muscle memory is basically a machine.

But I want to know—are you a slow knitter or a speedy knitter?

Remember me? 🧜‍♀️🧶

Last fall, I bought a beautiful old farmhouse that needed… well, a LOT of love. 😂

So I packed up my family and moved us into my parents’ basement while we tackled the renovations. What started as a project quickly snowballed into quite the adventure. It was a long winter, full of dust, decisions, surprises, and more projects than I ever could have imagined.

But slowly, room by room, the house began to come together. ❤️

We finally moved in, and this summer has been about settling in, making it ours, reconnecting with our home—and with each other.

It’s been quite a journey, and I’m so grateful for all of it. But I’ll admit… I’m very ready to get back to the fun stuff. 😉

There are so many yarny ideas that have been churning in the background while life was busy being life, and I can’t wait to bring them to you.

So, after a little unexpected detour…

The Mermaids Purl is coming back to life, better than ever!🧶✨
