One of my favorite parts about being a small business in the arts realm is getting to see so many unique items that you would never be able to find in store.

I decided that I finally needed a pop socket and Smoking Strawberry Co literally has such beautiful pieces available for amazing prices 💓

She is such a sweetheart and I adore getting to see everything that she makes because everything just looks so flawless.

Plus the freebies that she included are amazing! The details down to the little strawberry are what makes me love supporting small businesses.

You can tell that she has a passion for what she does and cares about her customers 💓

We're finally approaching that fall weather where we can actually style our hair and use cute accessories without worrying about the heat ruining it all 😜

What are your must have hair accessories in the fall? Are you still sticking with the scrunchie trend or trying something else?

I'm currently in the process of making the Portland Tote designed by Sotak handmade - which has been my main focus the past few days.

I'm still playing around with figuring out what I like to sew and what provides no satisfaction at all. I do enjoy making scrunchies, but I feel as if there is a mass amount of potential out there and that I could offer more once I refine my skills.

This pattern is teaching me to slow down, perfect sewing straight lines, and how to measure things properly. I have always been fond of patterns that provide a pattern piece to cut out, but this pattern only provides measurements in which I then have to make each piece in a sense.

At this point I still get nervous about measuring something incorrectly or something not being measured straight - so I draw each block by pencil on Pellon tracing material to make sure everything is correct.

Everything is a process with sewing and especially for myself as I am still growing and learning each time I work on a project.

I'm hoping to have this piece finished early this week, so I can divert my attention back to smaller projects.

When throwing things together literally means throwing things together 👇

Learning points today:
- The rolled hem foot is fun until you meet at a seam and have a thicker piece to get through
- Making bias tape is still one of the most confusing concepts to me even though I've successfully made it once
- Being lazy and using the rolled hem foot isn't the best option, but it works
- Polyester is not on my list of favorite fabrics to work with

Many errors were made today, but I still ended up with something wearable despite the many small flaws that I thankfully managed to do in the more hidden areas.

All in all - it was another successful day of learning and figuring out what works for me and what doesn't.

This is the first and only tote bag that I have ever completed. It was created during a sewing class that I took in Philadelphia and while I did enjoy the process - it's just not a piece that I have attempted again at home. ⁣

Lately I have been watching a lot of quilting and scrap piecing tutorials which I find fascinating. It's amazing how random pieces of fabric can be conjoined to create something new and truly unique. ⁣
⁣
In the near future I really want to practice scrap piecing to create more totes over time. I love the endless possibilities and want to explore that realm. ⁣
⁣
