OttoWood Woodworking

OttoWood Woodworking Handcrafted hardwood Danish modern & rocking chairs, console tables, home goods, and whatever else I think of in Wilmington, Delaware.

The name OttoWood comes from my grandfather Otto J. Ahnemann (1895-1974) who, when my mother was two years old in 1930, bought her a handmade rocking chair from a disabled local craftsman in rural southern Minnesota. Over the following years, Otto built three copies of the original so each of his four children would have one. Consequently all of my cousins grew up with one of these simple, sturdy,

and elegant Mission style rockers in their homes. My hardwood supplier is committed to sustainable forest management whose products come from legal sources who practice sound forest management.

Three console tables have recently all left OttoWood and gone on to better lives. Will there be more tables of similar and varying designs? The Magic 8 Ball was consulted and the response* was "You may rely on it."

If you go to the Wilmington Flower Market today or tomorrow, be sure you stop in at the booths of The Fairy Potter & Pixie Properties, Dina du Pont, City Painting , and Sassy Bee Honey. They’re my favorite vendors and do incredible work, plus they're all so super nice and fun to talk with!

In time for the Brandywine Spring Festival of the Arts is this latest console table in bird’s eye maple and quarter-sawn curly cherry. Try one here, there, or anywhere. In your house, with a mouse. In a box, with a fox. On a boat, with a goat. On a train, but not in the rain.
