My "House Plant," original papercutting is framed and I have entered it into the jurying process for possible inclusion in an upcoming show. I love how this turned out. There is something so incredibly satisfying about cutting and drawing by hand.

The joy I feel when my imagination comes to life. This one, "House Plant," took me a while to cut and my eyes are tired. 🤓 I still need to clean up some edges and frame it, but I love how it turned out. I'm going to submit it for possible entry in another local show.

Happy May 1st! It's a rather chilly start to May here in Wilmington, NC.

Working on a new papercutting that has been in my imagination for a while and was ready to be created. Enjoying a cup of tea and perusing two of my favorite reference books by Matthew Rice makes for a most lovely afternoon of inspiration.

I got my original papercut piece, "Can't talk Butterfly to Caterpillars," back from The Frame Works here in Wilmington, NC. I'm going to submit it for possible entry in another show.

This piece is a result of what came to me in response to how I am feeling about the state of our country and the world. It's the frustration that comes from truly seeing the suffering of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people and the destruction of our precious, Mother Earth, at the hands of a few wealthy, miserable power-hungry men.

One simply cannot talk "Butterfly," our connectedness to each other as humans, our connection to the natural world around us and a higher level of consciousness, to people who only live on the surface "Caterpillars", not being capable of seeing past their own noses and only understanding money, power and contol over other human beings.
