Good morning y’all! It’s good to be back! 3-4 months ago our FB account was hacked and our page could not be accessed. Thanks to the skills of my granddaughter, Emilee, we are now back online.
We’re on the brink of a long, hot summer but Wimberley and Jean’s Antiques will still be “kool” places to visit. We’ll look forward to seeing you if you get a chance to come this way. Like Wimberley says, this area is “a little bit of Heaven.” Heaven awaits . . .

Howdy, y’all! Look what’s back: Texas stepping stones! It had been a few years since they have been available. Up until about the time of Covid an elderly ranch lady used to come by now and then in her old Ford Econoline van with a load of the stepping stones among the remains of hay, tools and other things in the van. They made the cement stones at her ranch. We would always buy about two dozen and stack them up on Jean’s porch. They were always popular and we, typically, would sell out before she came back again. I remember the last time she came, she was a little frail so I unloaded the stones that time. I now feel a bit embarrassed that I never learned much about her, like her name, where her ranch was or her story. Sometimes we begin to think that things are going to go on forever and we don’t pay much attention to things that make up our daily lives. I did notice, as we were selling out that she didn’t come back to replenish our stock, and never came back again! 😢
Recently, though, a young man who is somewhat artistic and likes to make things, started making, among other items, the Texas cement stepping stones. We’re glad to offer them again and, with every sale we will remember our “Ranch Lady.” And, I have been trying to pay more attention to the people around me with whom I share my life! I do have two of the original stepping stones at the entry to my home; I think about her nearly every day. 😊

Hey, y’all! Do y’all know that Jean’s has “Wall Art?” And, one good thing is that all of it has adorned walls and has been appreciated before. The best thing, though, is that our “art” does not “break the bank.” What do y’all think about that?

Hey, y’all. We have another big and important day coming up this weekend. It’s Father’s Day! Now, I haven’t devoted as much time reminding you of this special day as I did for Mother’s Day, but it’s still just (about) as special. All y’all knew that you’d better do right for your Mom to make sure she was happy, because, “if Momma ain’t happy, nobody’s happy!” But we all probably let things “slide” a bit in getting ready for Daddy’s Day. It’s, most likely, because Daddy is not nearly as (outwardly) sensitive and emotional as our Mommas. But that, notwithstanding, does not diminish the importance of Father’s Day. He will notice what you do and say on HIS day and, if you do the right things, he will appreciate them, and you! Believe me! So take this advice from an 87 year-old Dad, do the right things and tell your Daddy how much you appreciate him on this Day, and every day. If you do, your world will be a better place on Monday . . . and forward!

Hello, y’all! It’s time to celebrate another Memorial Day. This day was celebrated as early as the 1860’s but officially became a national holiday only in 1971. And, while we call it a “celebration,” it is meant to be a more somber day to honor those who have passed defending our democracy. Let’s celebrate and have a good time on Memorial weekend but don’t forget to pause and reflect upon those who risked and lost their lives fighting on our behalf and that of the United States. I know y’all will!

Here in Wimberley we also pause to remember those who lost their lives in the terrible flood during the Memorial weekend in the Wimberley area. We were caught off guard late on Saturday night, May 23rd, 2015 when a tidal wave over 40’ high came roaring down the Blanco destroying homes, cabins and precious trees, many more than 100 years old. It also took the lives of 13 people here in Wimberley. This flood left many scars that are still visible and felt today among our families and friends who suffered losses in the flood that night. Our landscape was also scarred. Just drive down River Road and you can see many of the scars for yourself. Let’s also pause and remember those who lost their lives on that night nine years ago.

Here are a few reminders of that day:
