A trip to DC to protest fascism included a visit to the Hirshhorn, where the storytelling in the current exhibits did not disappoint. The power that artists have to convey complex emotions and concepts never fails to inspire awe.

Daffodils and forsythia are popping. Tender leaves are unfurling along the roadways. Longer, warmer days are whispering hopeful notes of spring. If you’re like me, you’re finding more time to get outdoors and take it all in. Here is a tour of some of my designs that celebrate the many versatile and beautiful shades of green.

Tour our new studio design for 2026. The yield of local tradespeople, artisan furniture crafters from Appalachia and beyond, and Virginia-based fabricators, the studio is a reflection of our love of joyful, honest and fearless design.

Back in October, with autumn curling up like a cat against the chill, I began to plan yet another iteration for my design studio. The result is the yield of artisans throughout Appalachia and points beyond. People who are part of diverse communities, who show up to work with pride despite a host of

In twenty-one years of business, we have maintained an apolitical brand, hoping to create content in a divisive world that appeals to people’s shared love of home and family. We also feel that political affiliation is very private.

Still, with ICE entering homes in some cases without judicial warrants and creating havoc and terror in communities, it has become ever more difficult not to speak up. Many Americans feel less safe because of ICE practices. If you do not agree with what you are seeing, call your representatives and demand change.

If your media sources are telling you that what has been happening in Minneapolis and elsewhere is okay, do your own independent research and we believe you will discover that ICE has made American communities less safe. We hope all of us can come together to demand change.

Beautiful, Functional, and Sustainable

Our mission is to create functional residential and commercial spaces that make it easier for clients to be happy, comfortable, and inspired.

Paul Miller believes that recognizing and solving design problems starts with good listening. His role as interior designer is to make the process fun and exciting for his clients while addressing their needs and challenges in a fresh and creative way. Paul is an expert at intelligent spatial plans and visual compositions. He uses pattern, texture, and color to make designs joyful and relaxing.

After completing the design program at Lord Fairfax Community College in 2000, Paul mentored with experienced design professionals for four years before opening MakeNest Interiors in 2004. Since then, his business has grown mostly through word of mouth, a testament to his commitment to offering creative ideas, quality products, and warm and friendly service. Named up and coming designer for the DC metro area, Home & Design magazine has twice recognized Paul for his vision and his designs.
