THROWBACK THURSDAY: WE’VE BEEN HERE THE WHOLE TIME. 🛠️🇺🇸
1888 was a long time ago.
When Jno. Solenberger and his uncle Daniel Stouffer opened Solenberger & Stouffer in Wi******er, Grover Cleveland was President, the Washington Monument had recently opened to the public, and National Geographic published its very first issue.
Meanwhile, a new hardware business was getting to work right here in Wi******er.
Customers weren’t shopping for cordless drills, YETI cups, or power washers. They came for farm wagons, implements, tools, hardware, and the everyday necessities needed to keep farms, homes, and businesses running.
Take a close look at our original store. Above the entrance, the sign proudly reads:
“Headquarters for Lansing Farm Wagons.”
Here’s another piece of history: Solenberger’s had already been serving Wi******er for six years when Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894.
A lot has changed in 138 years—the products, the buildings, even the name.
But our mission hasn’t.
We’re still here helping our neighbors build, fix, maintain, and get the job done.
