Spending my birthday in bed unwell, I have been reflective. So I decided to share.
47 lessons learned in life (in no particular order)
1. Time stops for no one.
2. As a single woman, you are your help.
3. Self care isn't selfish.
4. There's a fine balance between working to live and living to work. If you love the work that you do, you have the best of both worlds.
5. As long as there are givers there will always be takers.
6. Most people don't know what love truly is, therefore they can't truly know how to love themselves. This means that they also cannot love others properly.
7. Life is all about balance; anything can become an addiction.
8. Time and chance happens to all,
9. Joy comes from within.
10. Anyone that controls your emotions controls your life. Who are you giving your life to?
11. How much is an hour of your life worth? Does your job pay you that? If not, why are you doing that job?
12. Don't be afraid to start over. We literally start over every morning that we open our eyes.
13. There are things that are simply out of our control. Why worry about them? You can't change them anyway.
14. Contrary to popular belief, love and friendship are not transactional or defensive actions, but rather offensive ones. Giving love truly, and being a true friend shouldn't be done based on what the person does for you or to you.
15. If you don't like spending time alone with yourself, why would anyone else want to spend time with you?
16.The things we give most time and attention to oftentimes matter the least.
17. If conscious during the last moments of your life, what thoughts do you think will cross your mind? Those are what truly matter.
18. If you believe it is real, then it is. If you don't believe, it may still be real.
19. Sometimes the wiser you become the more jaded or sad you become. Ignorance really can be bliss.
20. If you understand that your emotions and your tongue rule your life, you become the master of it.
21. Rest is not a sin.
22. People by nature are self centered.
23. Never expect perfection from people. They will always disappoint.
24. Those closest to you will hurt you. You have to make the decision on whether or not you can forgive them.
25. Death happens in a second, so why are we so afraid of it? To be honest we really are more afraid of the process or what happens after it.
26. Hunger is a motivator.
27. In America, poverty is a crime.
28. If you don't make yourself a priority, your body will do it for you.
29. Three things you need in life; food, rest and love.
30. No one thinks about you as much as you do.
31. Hugs are a balm to the soul.
32. Sowing and reaping is a foundation of life. Sow good things, reap good things. Sow bad things, reap bad things. But the thing is, what you reap is alway greater than what you sow.
33. You attract what you want, consciously or subconsciously. Be careful, the subconscious rules the world.
34. Most people truly don't understand self worth, so they have very little of it.
35. Anger often comes from lack of control. If you can't control a situation, oftentimes you become angry.
36. The easiest way to change a result is to do the opposite. For example, if people hate you, show them love. If you're tired; exercise. If you're sad, watch a comedy. Sing when you feel like crying.
37. You really can choose how you feel.
38. Getting older is a privilege.
39. You crave what you’ve been fed. Eat junk food, crave junk food.
40. No one owes you anything, not even your parents.
41. Little things mean a lot.
42. Things will never satisfy you.
43. Solitude is good for a moment. Too much time alone will lead to loneliness and depression.
44. Someone will love you, flaws and all.
45. The past is just that, unless you dwell there.
46. Growth is up to you.
47. God is real.
