The meetings no one sees. 🤍

Yesterday, this was us—sitting on the floor, talking through the tile layout for one of our current projects.

Nothing staged. Nothing glamorous. Just a husband and wife having one of the hundreds of little conversations that happen behind the scenes of running a business together.

We both have opinions. We talk things through, problem-solve, and ultimately figure it out together.

There’s something really special about building a business—and a life—with the same person. These little meetings on bathroom floors are a pretty big part of our story!

Sometimes, one change in a room can make the biggest impact!

For this fireplace update, we removed the existing traditional mantel and gave it a cleaner, Craftsman-inspired look that feels much more at home in the space. The dated green tile surround was replaced with a beautiful quartz product—and the variation and warmth in this stone simply can’t be captured in a photo. It completely changed the feel of the room.

We added trim work above the mantel, gave everything a fresh coat of paint, and topped the mantel with a stained wood detail for another layer of warmth and character. Then our client added her finishing touches to make it feel like home.

And one of our favorite decisions? Taking down the TV.

Without a TV competing for attention above the mantel, the fireplace was able to become what it was meant to be—the focal point of the room. No major renovation. Just thoughtful changes to one area that made the entire space feel different.

POV: You're standing in a finished kitchen, but you're thinking about everything it took to get here.

Three kitchen remodels this year have taught me one thing: success in this industry isn't about avoiding challenges—it's about how you respond to them.

When something goes wrong, it's easy to point fingers. Instead, I've learned to ask myself, "What could I have done differently?" That question has made me a better designer, project manager, and business owner.

The more projects I complete, the more confident I become that Kendall Sharpe Designs will continue to grow—not because we're perfect, but because we listen. We listen to our clients, communicate through the hard moments, and never stop learning.

Before the finished paint, the styling, and the reveal... there's this.

There's sawdust everywhere, tools scattered across the floor, measurements being checked for the hundredth time, and a whole lot of hard work happening behind the scenes.

I love sharing the beautiful "after" photos, but I also think it's important to show the process. Every custom built-in starts as lumber, a vision, and someone willing to put in the work to bring it to life.

This is one of my favorite parts—watching an idea on paper slowly become something built by hand.

The pretty reveal is coming soon, but for now... here's a little glimpse of the work that happens before the magic. 🛠️✨

This kitchen and dining room transformation is one of those projects that makes me so proud of what I do.

When I first walked into this space, I could see the potential—but bringing that vision to life took thoughtful planning, problem-solving, and a lot of design decisions. And seeing the before and after reminds me why every detail matters.

I truly feel like I nailed the design for this space. The flow is so much better, the functionality has completely improved, and every area now feels connected and intentional. What was once a disconnected layout is now a space that works beautifully for everyday life.

The end result? A kitchen and dining space that not only looks beautiful but actually functions the way it should. And that's always the goal. ✨

A fresh new look without changing the footprint. ✨

This kitchen had great bones, so instead of reworking the layout, we focused on giving it the facelift it deserved. Bright, airy, and full of personality, this transformation features crisp white cabinetry, a stunning waterfall-edge island, and a unique printed tile backsplash that adds the perfect pop of color and character.

By keeping the existing layout intact, we were able to maximize the impact of every design choice while creating a space that feels completely refreshed, elevated, and ready for everyday living.

Proof that sometimes the biggest transformations come from thoughtful finishes and beautiful details!
