While in Boston for my daughter’s graduation from NU (🥰🎓), I finally got them to go visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum with me! It is such a feast for the eyes that I didn’t have my camera out much… so these were the only two photos I snapped. It is unique in that she meticulously built and designed a multilevel palace (with this central courtyard) for the sole purpose of displaying her expansive collection of artifacts, paintings, sculptures, architectural elements, furnishings and textiles. Each room, corridor and niche is an intentional and immersive experience… a place I would certainly return to for inspiration if I were a local. Cannot recommend enough!!

Sometimes the best solution involves thinking outside the box!

My client had these two heavy blown glass 19” platters that we wanted to mount to the wall as art… as they added a punch of orange to balance out a painting across the room. A typical plate mount not only shows through its translucent glass, but cannot handle the weight of these platters.

So I tried to re-envision how we might be able to mount these… and developed this solution using these brass robe hooks. After doing a study of the required display angle in order to let the plate rest against the wall, I searched for hooks of the correct length and style. … and Voilà!

Thanks to for providing the hardware, and to AJ for mounting these with perfection! 🙌
