The original Brat Shack was a tiny screened playhouse raised over a sandbox in my childhood backyard, designed and built by my Dad for his “brats”.

The roots of Brat Shack reach back to the 1970's and my amazing parents. It was the neighborhood hangout -- a place to rest in the shade or seek shelter from the rain and, later, it saw a few secret game of "spin the bottle." re, from an early age. I built on that foundation over the years, venturing into fine art in College, and picking up various media and handicrafts as my interests expanded. I had a crochet design business called bybetseyann years ago, which boomed when Jessica Simpson wore a vintage poncho on her reality show, but ran out of steam when fashion trends changed (as they always do). My designs will be in my shop on Etsy, as the pendulum has swung back to crochet sweaters - for the moment

I pondered starting a new crafting business for a long time, and when I returned to my faith I started creating rosaries and knew the time was right. I had to leave my professional life about 10 years ago due to disabilities, so I have a lot of time on my hands. Now I keep them busy with creating unique jewelry, rosaries, art, apparel, and decor! Brat Shack is co-managed by my eager helpmate Slick, a very fluffy white cat with a magnificent black tail. Lucille, the incredibly soft gray beauty, serves as silent partner.
