This project was an incredible experience.
The Red family, originally from Gulf Shores, Alabama and now residing in Honey Grove, reached out to us wanting something one of a kind — a dining table that would bring them back to Gulf Shores every time they sat down together. This is what they chose:
Two bookmatched walnut slabs with an epoxy ocean poured down the middle. A massive 10-foot dining table, paired with a gorgeous custom table base. We worked with the Red family throughout the entire process to get every detail right — the orientation of the slabs, the style of the ocean, the exact feel they were chasing. Step by step, we narrowed in on their vision until it matched the dream in their heads.
The way the blues in the ocean catch the light is something you really have to see — whitecaps at the surface, deep blue underneath, capturing the whole feel of the coastline. We left the white sapwood on the slabs on purpose, to mimic the white sand of the Alabama coast. It all came together with a custom wooden base built to match the statement armoire already in their space.
What we ended up creating was a blend of nostalgia and modern beauty — a table that catches the eye the same way the real ocean does.
We loved building this one. Custom work is our bread and butter — it’s where imagination comes to life.
If you or someone you know is looking for a custom furniture artisan to bring their vision to life, we’d love to hear from you. Our mission is to bless people and strengthen their legacies through heirloom furniture that captures their story and covers it in beauty.
Thank you,
Daniel and Owen Baughman
