Louis Vuitton in one of its rarest forms...

A 1930’s Cast Iron and Zinc Louis Vuitton Art Deco Bistro Table (with original “LV Paris” cast stamp).
Louis Vuitton designed limited “restaurant pieces” in the 1930s, and even, apparently, some items for the then Orient Express. Many didn’t survive and it’s rarer still to find one in the U.S. as they were made uniquely for the Parisian market. The art deco French design is impeccable.
Dimensions: 24” diameter zinc top × 28” overall height.

Portrait of William Freame Johnston (1808–1872)
Pennsylvania, circa 1852
Oil on canvas, 30 x 35 inches
In the original gilt frame

A distinguished mid-19th century American portrait depicting William Freame Johnston, who served as Governor of Pennsylvania from 1848 to 1852. Painted at the close of his term, showing Johnston seated in a upholstered mahogany chair, dressed in formal black attire, blue bow tie, and a gold watch chain at his waist, set against a rich, dark ground with a crimson drapery.

Executed with confident, naturalistic handling, the portrait demonstrates the influence of the Philadelphia school of painting, closely aligned with the tradition of John Neagle and his contemporaries.

The reverse retains the stencil of Geo. Rowney & Co., London, a prominent supplier of artists’ materials, indicating the use of high-quality, professional canvas consistent with academically trained hands of the period.

A historically resonant likeness of a Pennsylvania governor, embodying the transition in American portraiture from late academic tradition to the emerging influence of photography.

A beautiful little Queen Anne Candlestand in Cherrywood ca. 1750-60 New England. 🔴Sold

Showcasing a circular top with beveled edge, baluster-turned standard displaying an interplay of ring turnings, compressed urn elements, and vertical, incised fluting lending both vertical lift and graceful flow.

At the juncture of the legs, the pedestal is enriched with a delicately carved collar of repeating geometric chip carvings, leading to carved knees with flowing Queen Ann legs.

The result is a stand of quiet sophistication, where subtle carved ornament and precise turning elevate a simple form into an object of visual beauty in American furniture.

Dimensions: 14 3/4” x 14 3/8” top x 23” height.

An Italian Olivewood Miniature Chest (Cassettina)
Ca. 1950’s Italy 🔴Sold

A finely crafted miniature chest of drawers, veneered throughout in richly figured olivewood, displaying dramatic swirling grain and bookmatched panels characteristic of the region. The case is of serpentine outline both front and sides, raised on shaped bracket (or short cabriole-derived) feet, giving it the full presence of a larger commode in reduced scale.

Dimensions: 18” high x 16 1/2” wide x 11 1/2” deep
