Gemma Taccogna was born in Bari, Italy in 1923. Her parents moved to Westchester, New York, where she was not allowed to play with toys so she made her own. Using her mother’s flour and some paper, she created things from papier-mache, eventually concocting a mixture that mimicked the look of porcelain for which she later became known as a papier-mâché artist. We have here one of her lady head vases that stands one foot tall being consigned and for sale in the store.
