They need 5,000 by November and have 236 right now. Let's help Mikey and Daniel out! Share this with your friends and crochet groups and get the word spread!!
Project Maple Update
Crocheters rallied due to Daniel's Heart Attack to help him construct a large Maple Tree. We are making the structure to appear as an exhibit in Ottawa, Ontario. Our nations capital in 2017 for the 150th Anniversary of Canada's Confederation.
New participants have been added. Thanks so much for sending your leaves.
We are asking as many crocheters to help us make leaves to fill the massive structure. The maple tree is to be monumental as the Canadian Maple Tree is extremely relevant to our history and is also our symbol on our flag.
Tentative plans is Daniel will be making the exhibit to potentially have a tire swing, animals, relevant to Canada to appear in among your leaves. Potentially even a beaver attempting to chew the bottom to build its dam. The beaver is also symbolic as it's our symbol on our 5 Cent Nickels.
Information, including free pattern and tutorial to make leaves are available. We need roughly 5,000 leaves. We are now at 236 leaves.
I would ask a huge favour. Inside your packages, please clearly write your name. The outside of envelops and boxes sometimes get scuffed and we cannot read the return information to locate your name. Each one of your names will be included with the exhibit as a participant. We are looking for global participation to represent the diversity of Canada. Please be sure to check the spelling of your name once it's on our website for accuracy.
