Cut it out woodworking

Ripped out my moms kitchen window today. Needless to say it was a nightmare. I’d like to say to the previous person who worked on this, ya outta be ashamed of yourself for this half assed work. All the windows and sheathing have caused a tremendous amount of water damage. Won’t be calling no contractor to come do this, nope, I’ll be doing it myself. Not one person in my family can afford to have some half assed contractor come and “fix” all the water damage that’s been done. If you’re a contractor do the job to the fullest because you don’t know who’s living in it next. Had to take out my rent money just to fix the window on this house.

Here we are on the final coat of poly on my tv stand. Woodworking gives me plenty of time for inner and outer reflection.
This was not my best build and pretty generic with many flaws to it and I’ll admit that much. One thing I’ll always promise to deliver is honesty to myself and others. I make mistakes. Even at work. We all do, and it’s something you have to admit to yourself. When you make a mistake, accept it, try to fix it and move on. Don’t get inside your head about it, because the minute you do, people will see that and they’ll take advantage of that.

One of the biggest problems I’ve had with this build was the overuse of glue. If you use too much you’re left with glue patches when you go over it with a stain or poly. One of the ways I tried to overcome this with is a a shade that would blend with the glue, you can see how its not blending very well. Like anything, you learn from your mistakes and try to do better on the next.

On average, mass manufactured furniture needs to be replaced every 4 years.......YES. 4 years. Thats why its so cheap.

Quality, well built furniture is more expensive because it lasts longer.

Your Grandma and Grandpa's living room set is still around because they just don't build furniture like they used to.
