Curbless showers have become one of the most requested features in the bathrooms we design.

They create a clean, seamless look while eliminating the threshold that can make a shower difficult to navigate. Whether planning for aging in place, improving accessibility, or simply looking for a more open and modern design, a curbless shower offers benefits for just about everyone.

Wall-mounted or deck-mounted? It may seem like a small detail, but the right faucet can have a big impact on the look and feel of a bathroom.

Wall-mounted faucets offer a clean, streamlined look while freeing up counter space and making cleanup easier. Deck-mounted faucets are classic, versatile, and work beautifully across a wide range of styles.

Here are a few examples of both from some of our recent projects.

The Upton home is deep into renovations and the exterior is getting the full makeover. The old exterior had its charms, especially in full bloom when the flowers and tree blossoms gave it that cozy cottage feel. But the roof and siding are getting a new look! In addition to new siding and roof, additional upgrades will include a farmers porch, new screened in porch, and a few detail upgrades to give this home a completely new feel.

For the longest time, most kitchen remodels we came across leaned toward gas range selections. We've all seen those amazing pictures: the custom hoods and Wolf stoves with their classic k***s and features most of us can only dream about. That trend is slowly shifting toward induction cooktops. We're seeing more requests for a flush induction top sitting right at counter level, keeping it semi-hidden and sleek without the heavy aesthetic of a gas or electric range. And if you have small children who love to get their hands on everything, induction is also a safer choice for keeping those little hands safe.

A double island might seem like overkill, but every now and then we have a client who absolutely loves to host. For this kitchen remodel, a full-size double island with plenty of storage was an absolute must. Come the holidays, she invites all her friends and family to cook together, and the kitchen needed to hold its own. We delivered. (And won an award for it too.)

Our last post talked about the rising trend of semi-zoned flexible layouts, but let's give open concept its well deserved moment too. Open layouts are really efficient at maximizing natural light, spatial feel, and easier entertaining. And if you have kids, it is 100% way easier to keep an eye on those little troublemakers.

If you're not too sure which alyout you'd prefer, we highly recommend giving us a DM or even a call to our in-house interior designer who can really deep dive wih you on home layout options!

Summer is winding down and fall is quietly creeping in. And with it, we have been getting an uptick of inquiries about broken-plan and semi-open layouts versus full open concept. The reasons are pretty consistent across the board.

Energy efficiency, acoustic and visual zoning, and the desire for a little more privacy without feeling completely closed off. Nothing wrong with open concept at all, but with rising energy costs and evolving lifestyles, it might be worth thinking carefully about exactly what kind of open concept actually works for your family before the renovation begins.

This is the stage of construction where things start to get exciting.
One photo shows the new space starting to take shape with fresh walls, built-in cabinetry, and a much clearer sense of purpose. The next shows the room fully opened up during demo, with the old walls removed and the structure exposed.

We are still mid-install, but you can already see the direction. The darker cabinetry adds contrast against the lighter walls, and the full-height built-ins are starting to give the room a more finished and intentional feel.

Still a work in progress, but the vision is definitely coming together.

At BB&R Design-Build, our values aren't just talk. We live them through the work we do, the relationships we build, and the way we show up, year after year.

Pawsitively 4 Pink, an organization dedicated to supporting women facing breast cancer, recently left us this Google review:

"There are businesses that support their community once, and then there are businesses that quietly and consistently show up year after year. BB&R Design-Build is one of those companies."

We are truly humbled by these words. Kevin and the entire BB&R team are proud to stand behind P4P's mission; not because it's good for business, but because it's the right thing to do.

Thank you, Pawsitively 4 Pink, for all you do for our community, and for letting us be a small part of it.
