Quick update on my temperature blanket adventure - turns out I've got a bit of self-diagnosed crafter's ADHD mixed with OCD. Who knew?

Since my last post, my obsession with knitting has only grown stronger, especially now that I've managed to incorporate all 10 colors into my project. As of today, I've knitted my way through 142 days, dedicating roughly 48 hours of love, frustration, and determination to this throw. I've just reached May 21, 2024 (81.5 F), on this timeline of temperatures and had to stop, not because I wanted to, but Bobbi is covering my directions 😆.

Here's an updated picture to show you how it's shaping up.

Stay tuned for more updates and crafty adventures. Who knows what craft will capture my heart and sanity next! Let's keep creating and bedazzling, no matter where our crafting whims take us.

Some of you have noticed I’ve been knitting a lot lately. I decided to make something called a **temperature blanket** — where you knit a row each day using a color that matches the high temperature for that day. At the end of the year, you have a blanket that shows the weather pattern of that year.

Naturally, I approached this simple concept in the most complicated way possible.

Back in November I joined a temperature blanket group and immediately fell down the research rabbit hole. I took over 40 screenshots, downloaded about 30 different color charts, and spent an embarrassing number of hours on a website plugging in yarn colors and temperature ranges. Acrylic? Cotton? Wool? Big box store? Local yarn shop? What if I run out of yarn and the world ends?

Because clearly this required **very serious planning**.

I finally decided I wanted to make a throw for our cottage in Northern Michigan using the year we bought it. I drove 1½ hours to a yarn shop in Traverse City, fell in love with a lightweight yarn, picked out 10 beautiful colors, came home, printed my chart, and excitedly cast on.

The thrill of the cast-on was real.

I knit the entire month of January and then had the brilliant idea to mark the exact day we bought the cottage with a sparkly yarn. So I went looking through my photos to find the day we were holding the keys.

That’s when I realized…

I had been knitting the **wrong year**.

All those hours of research. Planning. Knitting.

Wrong. Year.

On the bright side, when I ripped it all out I realized the blanket was way too wide anyway, so I’m calling it a design improvement.

Round two is now underway and going much better. I’ll share progress photos as it grows — and hopefully this time it will actually represent the correct year of our cottage. 😆
