Been scouting out light fixtures, fleshing out the vision.

We are in the process of cleaning + painting the building we leased last week, beginning set up and moving items over in an organized fashion.

But I’m actively pulling materials and fixtures to piece the dream together.

Beyond celebrating tonight, we got the keys to the building!!!

Chris will be using the warehouse for his plumbing business.

I will be utilizing the office building as my creative studio hub.

Building materials will be organized in the warehouse space to clean out the house and move this renovation forward with what is needed, as needed.

Big, BIG things to come.

The ball is rolling now, on multiple fronts.

The contract negotiations and city inspection have delayed finalizing the lease for the commercial building, which we need complete so we may move the materials out of the house.

Maybe this week???

Plus, it is coooold, 1° at the moment. Not much can be done in this tundra.

So I’ve been a busy bee on other fronts.

I set up a trade account with ProSource this week through my design business for access to materials at wholesale.

The building part of the property we are leasing in about a week, with a warehouse/shop for Chris’ plumbing business (moving the storage out of the Biddle house), plus a space to move the construction materials we don’t need at the moment, and this creative studio space for me to begin running my own business. 😃🥳

I think these are porcelain slabs, and I absolutely love this clean, simplified look!!  Looking to do something like this in the second floor bath, as well as the master on the third level.

I’m so excited, it looks like we may actually be getting the lease to this building I mentioned!!

Chris has been talking about this building for two years.

He’s been telling me how he passes it all the time, how it’s perfect, telling me the purchase price. I told him there’s no way I’m putting money into purchasing a building like that when we need the money to finish this house.

Then, on Sunday, after doing our walk-through, he asked me if he could show me. We went there, looked at the building, looked in the windows. The first thing I noticed is that it not only said for sale, it’s also for lease. 

For lease, why had he never mentioned this before?!?! (Because he doesn’t believe in leasing over buying, but sometimes it actually makes sense.)

Well, if it’s for lease, and there’s both a shop area for his plumbing business, and also an office space that could be a design studio/artist space for me, yes, of course let’s call on it!!!

We walked it Monday night. He spoke with the owner multiple times today. The owner is interested in keeping half of the warehouse space for his own storage, letting us lease just half of the warehouse as well as the office area. This is good enough for us.

We spoke about terms tonight. The space has been vacant from a business for two years. It’s very clean though. A blank canvas. It sounds like this might be a dream come true, very feasible considering we could have significant storage for all of the plumbing as well as building materials.

And I could also have a creative space to work out of. 

Now I’m really getting excited…

Three hour family meeting at the dinner table last night.

Voicing intentions, strategizing, navigating some blowback, everyone sharing where they are at and how they feel, some debating responsibility and accountability, a calling for actionable steps and proof of work, some tears shed, doubt rehashed, dreams reignited, a bit of same-page aligning, and a group hug at the end (for 5 of us 😁).

You know, typical family stuff.

These kids have waited a long time.

There has been a lot of life in between when we bought this house and now. They have grown up.

It’s up to Chris and I to carry this to the next level here.

I could not do it myself.

And he could not either.

But I am the mover and shaker, and me making drastic changes to take action has lit his fire also.

It is now or never.

And this means the only option for me is NOW.
