Yankton Holiday Festival of Lights

Yankton Holiday Festival of Lights Join us the first Thursday night in December. The parade will begin at 6:00pm with the lighting ceremony following at approximately 7:00pm.

The Holiday Festival of Lights will light up Downtown Yankton with floats, fire trucks & thousands of Christmas lights followed by a tree lighting ceremony and fireworks from the magnificent Meridian Bridge. The Holiday Festival of Lights will illuminate Downtown Yankton with classic cars, floats, fire trucks and thousands of Christmas lights. The parade will line up on Levee Street, then proceed

to Capital and up to Third Street- down third street and end at Mulberry. Shortly after the parade, everyone proceeds to the entrance of the Meridian Bridge for the lighting of the Christmas tree and fireworks.

To close out the 250th Celebration, The Yankton Holiday Festival of Lights is excited to announce the 2026 event theme......"ALL-AMERICAN CHRISTMAS." The 2026 Holiday Festival of Lights will again feature family activity time, the BIGGEST and BRIGHTEST holiday parade, a fireworks display, hot chocolate kiosk, and the lighting of Riverside Park and the City of Yankton Christmas tree. Time for your business, organization, non-profit, church, group, club or family to start brainstorming your 2026 Yankton Holiday Festival of Lights "ALL-AMERICAN CHRISTMAS" parade float, decked out in Red, White and Blue. Additional details about float registration and schedules will be posted in the coming months.

The City of Yankton, in partnership with Yankton Thrive, is offering residents of the Meridian District, and anyone else who is interested in receiving special event notifications, the opportunity to opt in to a new notification system designed to improve communication regarding temporary street, alley, and parking lot closures associated with special events in downtown Yankton.

This notification system will provide advance notice of applicable closures to citizens who choose to participate. Notifications may be delivered via email, traditional mail, and/or texts based on the preferences selected during the opt-in process.
