Hearty Potato and Minced Beef Pie ๐ฅง๐ฅ
This classic British pie is packed with layers of tender potatoes, seasoned minced beef, and a rich, savoury gravy, all wrapped in a golden, flaky pastry. Perfect for a comforting family dinner!
Ingredients:
๐ฅ For the Filling:
500g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
300g minced beef
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp tomato purรฉe
200ml beef stock
Salt & black pepper, to taste

300g ready-made shortcrust pastry
1 egg, beaten (for glazing)
Method:
1๏ธโฃ Prepare the Filling:
๐ณ In a pan, cook the minced beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until soft.

Stir in tomato purรฉe, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
๐ฅ Pour in the beef stock, simmering for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

๐ฅง Preheat oven to 180ยฐC (fan).
๐บ Roll out half of the pastry and line a greased pie dish.
๐ฅ Layer half of the sliced potatoes on the base, followed by the minced beef mixture, then the remaining potatoes.
๐ Roll out the remaining pastry and place it on top. Crimp the edges to seal and cut a few small slits for steam to escape.
๐ฅ Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.

๐ฅ Bake for 40-45 minutes until the pastry is golden and crisp.
