Welcome back to Stacie’s Vintage Ventures with Flea Market Decor Magazine! Football season is here, which means one thing in Alabama it’s tailgate time! 🏈 In these parts we take our college football and our tailgating pretty seriously. 😂

Today I’m sharing a tailgate setup filled with vintage treasures, favorite team memorabilia, and two recipes featuring products and flavors from my home state of Alabama!
I started with a vintage chenille bedspread that I repurposed as a tablecloth. A vintage picnic tin became a vessel for flowers, complete with homemade felt and chalkboard pennants, while an old thermos holds another little bouquet. A plaid Skotch Jug on a cake stand serves up drinks into vintage glassware or Solo cups, because it is a tailgate after all!

I also added some memorabilia! Vintage team pennants, a houndstooth hat in honor of legendary Alabama football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, a miniature Denny Chimes made by my great-grandfather, and a thrifted megaphone outfitted with a vintage sticker all add a little nostalgia to the table.

Wooden folding chairs provide seating along with vintage Skotch Koolers filled with local beer and glass bottle sodas. I even used an old locker basket to hold napkins and plates, and pie tins that make the cutest plates!

But we all know the real star of any tailgate is the food!
In Tuscaloosa at the University of Alabama and over in Auburn at Auburn University you’ll find everything from barbecue and game day dips to shrimp boils, fun sides, desserts, and signature drinks filling tailgate tents.

I even got to experience tailgating at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, and it was a full on event! Brisket, sides, traditions, and football it was definitely a tailgate to remember.

Tailgating itself has a cool history. As automobiles became more common in the early 20th century, fans could travel farther to games. Small towns didn’t have enough restaurants so fans began bringing along food and drinks to enjoy near their cars before kickoff. Over the years those simple game day picnics evolved into elaborate tailgate parties on some campuses.

Vintage game birds for the win! 🦆
Ducks are everywhere this season from sweaters and dinnerware to pillows and home décor, and I am loving it! I’ve been collecting vintage duck, goose, pheasant, and quail pieces for the past 10 years or so, and they fit right in with my lodge/camp house aesthetic.
Duck decoys are my favorite, especially the vintage paper mache ones with glass eyes. A close second is my collection of game bird glassware from the 1950s and ’60s. There’s just something about those old illustrations and colors that gives the space a vintage sporting lodge feel.
If you come across some of the newer plastic decoys, don’t pass them up! A little Mod Podge, sand paper, and acrylic paint can help transform them into vintage look a-likes.
Just don’t be like me 😂. I was told I could use any of the old duck decoys in the closet for one of my projects. Apparently I grabbed one of my son’s brand new ones instead. He forgave me, but his response was,“Please tell me you didn’t throw away the clip and the weight.” I did not and I just owe him one wood duck 😬 In my defense, it looks much better vintage!

I rounded up some of my favorite game bird finds and collectibles and a few things you might want to keep an eye out for on your next thrifting, flea market, or antique shopping adventure.
So if you spot an old decoy, a pheasant plate, or a set of vintage duck glasses hiding on a dusty shelf grab them!

Hey friends! It’s time for Vintage Ventures with our 2026 Brand Ambassador, Stacie CampGilmore 🎉

Wow, it’s already August! I report back to school at the end of this week, but before summer officially comes to a close, I wanted to finish a little project that I’ve been collecting pieces for since the spring.

I love all things vintage wildlife and hunting lodge style, and this plate wall all started with a set of Audubon Birds of America plates that I found on Facebook Marketplace. From there, I added a gorgeous Bavarian elk plate from eBay, along with similar duck and quail plates. I knew they would all work together, but I just needed a few more pieces to complete the look.

I mixed in a Pottery Barn pheasant dessert plate that was a gift, two of my favorite jadeite plates, and even a bread and butter plate from my vintage Lenox china. At the last minute, I tucked in two tiny butter pat plates that I picked up years ago at a home décor store. I love combining old and new to create a unique collection.

For hanging, I used a combination of methods, including wire through the predrilled holes, adjustable brass spring plate hangers from Amazon, and the paperclip method for the two smallest plates. Before hanging anything, I traced each plate onto wrapping paper and used painter’s tape to arrange and adjust the layout.

This plate wall isn’t finished! I plan to keep adding pieces over time and tuck them in for the overlap type look. That’s one of my favorite things about decorating with vintage, you are always on the hunt for that next perfect find.

Hi Flea Market Decor Friends!
I can’t believe how fast summer is flying by! Thanks for stopping by for another Stacie’s Vintage Ventures this Monday.

Today I’m sharing a vintage inspired DIY that I created last year and loved so much, I decided to make another one and take y’all along for the process!
I’ve always admired the highly collectible hand carved tramp art frames often found decorating the great camps of the Adirondacks in the early 1900s. I have one in my own collection, and it looks right at home in my vintage paint by number gallery wall.
Inspired by that piece, I created my own camp style version using inexpensive wood trim pieces along with wooden leaves and acorns from Amazon. After staining everything, I attached the pieces to thrifted and discount store frames. I originally tried wood glue and clamps, but quickly realized hot glue was actually the easiest solution!
Once the frames were finished, I removed the glass and framed several vintage paint by number paintings that had been tucked away for years. I also framed a remnant of a vintage camp blanket, adding varsity letters and an old camp patch for a nostalgic summer camp feel.
These frames would also be beautiful with family photos (especially with plaid or camp striped mats), vintage field guide illustrations, botanical prints, or any nature inspired artwork.
I hope this DIY inspires you to bring a little summer camp charm into your home! It would also be such a fun camp style craft to make with kids using leaf rubbings, pressed leaves, nature sketches, or their favorite outdoor artwork.

Hi Flea Market Decor Friends and welcome to Stacie’s Vintage Ventures! Today I am at my favorite spot, Potluck Cabin on the Coosa River! This 1950’s fishing cabin is all pine wood - the floor , walls and ceilings! My family has made so many memories here and I have it filled with vintage water skis, life preservers, badminton racquets ( we have a court in the backyard), trophies, pennants, and coolers! I love to unwind here with Credence Clearwater Revival on the record player!
My article for the summer issue of Flea Marker Decor Magazine reflects on this magical getaway and the history here! Hot summer days with friends that melt into the best dinners and laughs on the porch!

🇺🇸 Patriotic Pop-Up Bar 🇺🇸

Hi Flea Market Decor friends, and welcome to this week’s Stacie’s Vintage Ventures from Camp Gilmore!
Today I’m back on the front porch sharing a fun idea for summer entertaining.
Whether you have a small porch, patio, sunroom, or even a corner indoors, it’s an easy way to create a festive red, white, and blue gathering spot for family and friends.
I’ve always loved the idea of Christmas pop-up bars, and we even have one here in Birmingham that serves themed drinks surrounded by vintage décor and glassware. I thought, why not create a patriotic version for summer?

It all started with this little table I found at Goodwill last week for just $10. The best part is that it was already painted the perfect shade of blue! I originally considered making a gingham skirt for it, but then remembered I had some patriotic bunting for some vintage charm!
From there, I started gathering some of my favorite treasures including vintage patriotic barware found on eBay, nautical flags from Amazon, and a stack of patriotic history books. The real star is the 1960’s JFK painting by Ray Mondello. I purchased it at an auction last year after admiring it for nearly six years, and I was absolutely thrilled to finally bring it home!

Happy Monday and welcome back to Stacie’s Vintage Ventures with Flea Market Decor Magazine. 🇺🇸

Today I’m sharing a little patriotic style on our front porch! I know so many of y’all collect vintage racquets like I do, both tennis and badminton. A few years ago I used a badminton racquet on the door at our little river cabin, and this summer I decided to create a tennis racquet version for our home.

Check out stories for an easy DIY tutorial! I wanted something unique and fun’s so I used a mix of vintage state fair award ribbons along with new ribbons and small American flags for a patriotic look.

I’m also sharing a little history behind the bird pottery piece sitting on my front porch table. One of my favorite conversation pieces with a family connection.
