Just finished this oversized on interior from a local, late-1800’s barn. The original layers of paint are sealed in and give this unique piece a and feel. It will handle all the or chocolate you can throw at it!

Keeping the character of wood that’s 100+ years old is important for my products. But the rougher wood, even when sanded, makes the artwork more challenging because it’s still ever so slightly uneven. One vital but tedious part is cleaning up lines with a razor blade. In this case, it’s for a board on an early-1900’s door with original paint, now ready for the coats of seal.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do woth this? It’s a 15x9 board from inside of a late-1800’s barn I’m Acushnet. I liked the layers of paint so I sealed them in. Between the groove on one side and the board not being square I’m trying to figure out artwork or function for it. Thoughts???

NEW PROJECT: this 1930’s door is from a Rhode Island Victorian house for factory workers whose building was down the street. My next fair is there this fall, so I’ll bring some products with local wood. Don’t know what I’ll make yet but preserving the hook seems neat and some will feature this interesting paint color.

Thank you to all of the shoppers coming by at this weekend’s Coruit Craft Fest. It was great to see the interest and chat with so many folks on a beautiful weekend. My neighboring vendors were also nice to chat with, and seeing such variety across the artists was fascinating. Also a big shout out to the organizers and volunteers. These are always complicated events and one this big is even more so. But they were cheery and fantastic. Looking forward to putting this into the rotation!

One of the Cape’s biggest cars is in downtown Cotuit this weekend, 8/15-16. Come check out a ton of vendors along with food and music to keep your shopping energy high.
