Rain, rain, go away! It’s another typical PNW rainy day here, but I’m choosing to ignore it and “slay the day away.” I have a whole variety of kits I’m working on today. This upcoming Thursday, I’ll be teaching an embroidery class for the Washington State kit at . I believe there are still some spots left, so please check out their website to purchase tickets.

Over the weekend, my little family attended a very cool digital art exhibition of Vincent Van Gogh’s art collection. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my little boy. My oldest sister lives in Amsterdam, home of the Vincent Van Gogh art museum. We were able to see many of his paintings in-person back in 2014. What an amazing experience for me! I hope someday my son gets to experience seeing Van Gogh’s collection in-person.

Spring, oh how I love thee. The colors, the blooms, the smells of sweet floral fragrance in the air, the allergies (kidding) have me daydreaming of warmer weather.

Living in Washington State is entirely different than living in Missouri, when it comes to weather and an actual “spring” kick-off. Warmer weather here may not actually show up until closer to June.

Each spring, I plant flowers and work my flower beds while I patiently wait for my tulips to bloom. Several years ago, my husband and I visited my sister in Amsterdam and toured the Keukenhof Gardens. It was a breathtaking experience, to say the least. Once we moved to Washington, I found out about the annual Tulip Festival in Mt. Vernon and we decided to make the 2 hour trek north of me to the RoozenGaarde daffodil and tulip fields. The last time we went was 2019 (blast you COVID) but I’m excited to visit this year.

Well…well…well, here we are again! Happy FriYAY and a beautiful one it is here in the PNW. The weather is amazing and has me ready to start working on my flower beds🌷💐🌸. I definitely need to be outside, as it’s been a difficult week of tonsillectomy recovery for my little love. I don’t like seeing him in pain 🥺. Luckily, I think we’re nearly over the worst part (fingers crossed). He’s asked for lots of lavender baths and lavender lotion, his go-to when he’s not well. I was happy to comply 🥰. I'm so smitten over these adorable yarn kits. Today, I was moving at "sloth" pace and kept thinking of the GEICO commercial with sloth on "Game Night." I'm glad no one was here listening to me, as I was cracking myself up.

Happy FriYAY! This has been a long and chaotic week for me. My son had a tonsillectomy yesterday and it was a looooong, rough day. I’ve been working hard to get spring and Easter finished but also working on my website 😳. I figured it was time to “finally” get organized and jump into the frying pan 🤣😂. It’s March 1st and what better way to start off the month than FINALLY introducing myself on Instagram. I admit, I’m behind the times and probably should have done this years ago when I started my business account, but hey…better late than never? So here’s the scoop on me:

1. My name is Rachel and I love crafting, creating, and designing a wide variety of things.
2. I’m originally a Midwest girl (Missouri) and now live in the beautiful PNW (Lord, please give me some vitamin D).
3. I’ve been married to my hubby, Dan, for nearly 14 years and together we have one wild and hilariously funny 7 year-old son, Aiden.
4. My husband and I have lived in various parts of the U.S. and Europe, which has had a big influence on my creative work.
5. I gave up my career in the medical and academic fields to pursue my business.
6. I love traveling and exploring. I’ve visited close to 40 countries and hoping to add more to that list soon.

It’s been a little dreary and grey skies this weekend. I’m in much need of some Vitamin D and spring weather. My Spring and Easter collection is nearly complete and there are a few favorites but this bunny garland is my absolute favorite 🐰 🥰. I remember a time when my evenings and weekends were filled the comforts of PJs, a glass of wine, lit candles, a quiet house and escaping into a good book. That was long before marriage and motherhood, obviously 😂. My bookshelves were filled with hundreds of books and, oftentimes, I read two or three books a week. Now, I’m more of a book collecting enthusiast, daydreaming of those relaxing memories. I’ve tried many times to recreate that feeling and excitement of getting a new book and delving into it, but truth be told, my brain starts to wander…laundry, what to meal plan, what’s my next project, I need to remember to schedule an appointment, house cleaning schedule, did I take out the trash, this house is too quiet, let’s shop Amazon, what’s that noise outside? 😂🤣. Maybe one day I’ll get back to being an avid reader and not just a book collector. In the meantime, I can at least create pretties for my fellow book lovers…and book collecting enthusiasts. Last year, my son struggled with reading and was incredibly discouraged. I worked with him each night on letter sounds and pronunciations. I’m not going to lie, the struggle bus inched slowly; lots of crying and meltdowns of epic proportions. A year later and he’s reading like a champ and doing nightly reading challenges. I’m so proud of him! Instead of candy bags filled with Valentine’s Day treats, my son is handing out bookmarks to his classmates 🥰.
