I’ve been told that I can’t buy anymore yarn until I use at least half of the stash that I already have, and you know what? I agree (it really is a lot of yarn!).
To begin my stash busting, this morning I intentionally chose to work with purple yarn, not just because it is cozy & pretty, but because September is Chiari Malformation Awareness Month. Chiari Malformation Awareness is commonly associated with a purple ribbon and it is also a symbol of strength for those suffering. Chiari is a lesser-known condition in which the brain extends downwards into the spinal canal due to a lack of space in the skull. While this disorder is not common, there has been an increase in diagnoses due to more advanced medical technology.
Many patients with Chiari experience little to no symptoms—it was simply an incidental finding during other testing. A scarcer population of these patients experience debilitating symptoms due to the malformation. Unfortunately, I am one that experiences debilitating symptoms.
Today has been pretty rough so far, so I’m trying to find some comfort and calm in my stitches - one loop at a time.
Invisibly illnesses are complicated because there are many people that cannot understand what they cannot visibly see. The most meaningful compliment that I’ve received lately is how I put on a brave face and push through all that I do.
Remember, you never know what others are going through and it costs nothing to be kind to others
