Meet one of this year’s Ypsi Vegan Fest sponsors, Mrs. Pruitt’s Gourmet Cha Cha! Grandma Pruitt developed the original CHA CHA recipe in the backwoods of South Carolina. Mrs. Pruitt’s recipe honors her spirit. It has been passed down through generations. Grandma Pruitt, 82 yrs old, told them to tell the world about CHA CHA.

The recipe was derived from the need to preserve bountiful harvests of home grown vegetables (CHA CHA means “no food ever wasted”). It was often a family affair where everyone would come together and help in the canning process.

Mrs. Pruitt’s believes every meal should be special. They understand that you want to enjoy your meal as much as you enjoy the people you are sharing it with.

Mrs. Pruitts Gourmet CHA CHA is a unique relish with a flavorful burst of classic southern cooking that’s been around since the 1830’s and it is still a family favorite because it is made with the finest ingredients and it enhances the flavor of any meal or dish.

Mrs. Pruitt’s Gourmet Cha Cha. Can be found at Holiday Market, other local grocers and online at mrspruittschacha.com.

Meet one of our “PLANTinum” Sponsors for Ypsi Vegan Fest 2025 presented by VegMichigan. University Bank is a locally based financial institution focused on serving the everyday banking needs of individuals, small businesses, and communities. It provides personalized financial services and solutions designed to meet the specific needs of its customers. With decision-making grounded in the communities it serves, University Bank works to offer practical and accessible banking options.

In June 2024, University Bank opened a new full-service banking center at 301 W. Michigan Avenue in downtown Ypsilanti, Michigan. This marks the bank’s first branch in Ypsilanti and the first new banking location in downtown Ypsilanti in many years. The new branch aims to provide convenient access to banking services for residents and businesses in the area.

As part of its effort to support local residents, University Bank’s mortgage division, University Lending Group, offers the Neighborly Housing Grant—a program that provides up to $10,000 in down payment assistance to eligible low- to moderate-income homebuyers in Washtenaw County, Michigan. This program helps reduce the financial barriers many face when buying a home and reflects the bank’s focus on making homeownership more accessible for its communities.

In addition to lending programs, the bank is committed to financial education. Through its Kids and Money Workshops, University Bank provides resources to help children learn about saving, budgeting, and managing money responsibly. By promoting financial literacy from an early age, the bank hopes to support long-term financial well-being in the communities it serves.
University Bank strives to maintain a local presence with banking services that are responsive and practical. The bank aims to build trustworthy relationships and contribute to the economic health of the neighborhoods it serves.
