Come out and check out some local businesses, some really nice cars, and help support the Children's Miracle Network charities that benefit patients of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus! If you're in the Coshocton, Ohio area tomorrow, be sure to stop over at the Walmart Children's Miracle Network Car & Craft show, from 11am to 3pm, at the Coshocton Supercenter, located just off U.S. 36. They are having a car show, craft vendors, face painting for the kids, and food! Come support some local small businesses and a great cause as they are raising money to help patients of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus!

Tonight's live shenanigans!

First pen in close to three weeks! Felt good to be back out there! So here's tonight's pen.

A Chrome Cigar twist pen, dressed in a beautiful piece of stabilized Black Ash Burl from Jon Andrews at Heritage Woodworkz. The CA finish really made the figure on this burl pop!

If you are interested in stabilized blanks, I highly recommend Jon! Quality pieces at very good prices!

Story time!

I know I've been away from the shop a lot here lately, but with good reason! I was finally able to return to work the first of the month, and boy was that rough that first week! But after a year and a half off work, I am getting back accustomed to it again! That, and its been hotter and muggy as hell here in Ohio the past couple weeks!

So, I got my first real paycheck last Friday in forever, and where's the first place I go to spend some of it?

If you guessed the woodworking store, you'd be wrong! I actually went to two different woodworking stores! 😅😂🤣

Got a lot of good deals on some nice stuff at both Woodcraft of Columbus and Kiem Lumber up in Ohio's Amish country.

If I can find someone that can resaw the live edge walnut pieces in half for me, I should have several nice, new pen displays for my markets this summer and fall! I absolutely love the look of the small piece of the walnut crotch! That figure will look amazing turned! And the curl on that hunk of maple will make some nice blanks for my continued experimentation with my new wood dyes!

So in closing, tonight, I just want give a preview of some projects to come, but most importantly, to send a huge thank you to every single one of you that have supported me throughout this rough patch in my life, and growth of my business, and hope for many, many more years of creating awesome pieces for you all to enjoy!

I truly appreciate every single one of you!

Sorry guys, no live stream this week. I finally got to go back to work, and right into a 50 hour week, and I'm still getting adjusted. Hopefully back to regular next week!

An absolutely beautiful afternoon to be out in the shop, making these beauties!

A Black Slimline, dressed in a Neon color swirl from Roman Steichen at 3rd Gen Pen Shop & Sew Amusing.

A Gunmetal Slimline, dressed in what I'm calling Peacock, also from Roman at 3rd Gen.

Last, a Gold Slimline, dressed in a Purple, Orange, Pink, and Blue swirl blank from Cocoon Blanks.

All three are available if interested, $25 plus the ride.

Tonight's live shenanigans!

A Chrome Cigar twist pen, dressed in a Denim Micarta blank, from Ken Frisbee at Ken's Penz, with a nice, shiny CA finish. This one definitely turned easier than the only other micarta blank I've turned before, possibly from the difference in the fabric material. I like this one, it looks good, but definitely not one of my favorites.
