About the Artist
"I view life through the camera of my eyes. As I save this view to the technical camera, I am allowed to further compose, appropriate, and image the power of the world in which we live. The end result: my camera, lenses, card, software, scanner, computer, and final print, are nothing more than historical transmitters of time, distance, space, form, and color."
Don R. Fitzpatrick is a fine art photographer from Zionsville, Indiana. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, where he studied photography, history, film studies, and cinematography, and a master’s degree in electronic arts from The Jordan College Fine Arts, Butler University. He became enamored with photography using his grandmother’s Kodak box camera, and progressing through super 8, 35mm SLR, 16mm film cameras and digital still and video cameras. While on assignment with Ball State's London Centre, Don received training at Crosswind Films. He has traveled and photographed extensively in Western Europe and the United States. Trained as a film and videotape editor, Don applies his cinematic background, story-boarding, and visual storytelling to create fine art photographic compositions from his own and vintage or "legacy" images.
