INTRODUCING THE PAINTING " WORLD S.O .S ! " . .
The " World S.O.S ! " painting has a subject drawn from the Bible which dates back over two thousand years before .It's realized with lacquer material that also exists in Asia since more than three thousand years.But, in this case,the use of lacquer represents the new creative technique of Vietnamese painters after assimilating all the thoughts and plastic arts techniques,using oil paint of the West,as well as the Japanese traditional lacquer technique. The production of painting,using lacquer material since the first exposition in Hanoi in 1935,has had 78 years of activity. Although the artistic lacquer material is quite familiar with the Vietnamese artists , it's still quite new to the world .
Using lacquer material to realize the" World S.O.S ! " painting , which is a current subject of world nature through a familiar Bible story , the author hopes that Vietnamese lacquer will be widely known to the world. Along with this material , the painter also uses genuine gold and genuine silver . Gold and silver are lamelled to paste, and bolted into fine flour to paint along with other traditional colors . The painting also used duck-eggshell , special material , very difficult to apply in lacquer painting .
The different stages in the realization of the lacquer painting are as follows : after the sketch is available , the painter has to use a knife to groove deeply a certain number of masses on the body , then pastes the eggshell and spreads the color on the eggshell and polishes until the whole thing is leveled . While at the same time pastes gold, silver and spills gold and silver powders on the masses of colors and on the strokes, as well as throughout the painting . Each time the painter finishes the painting , he'll have to place it in a close room , filled with water vapour , to warm it up , then after three days , when the paint is dried , one can polish again . To achieve an artistic lacquer one has to paint and polish like that several times . In the working process , the artist is constantly interrupted and takes him quite a long time to realize a painting . The " World S.O.S !" artistic lacquer has been completed after 3 years of hardworking .
