I have been driving around China for maybe a thousands times while i show my tourist the place!
Pass by this restaurant lots of time but couldn't stop to try this dish!
So yesterday after working time, i went to China town again and thought i must try it!
In Chinese it's called Yong Tau Foo! Im not sure if this dish has an English name!
From Wikipedia they said:
Yong tau foo (also spelled yong tao foo, yong tau fu, yong tau hu or yong tofu; yentafo in Thailand) is a Hakka Chinese cuisine consisting primarily of tofu filled with ground meat mixture or fish paste. Variation of this food include vegetables and mushrooms stuffed with ground meat or surimi. Yong tau foo is eaten in numerous ways, either dry with a sauce or served as a soup dish.
So this is what i feel about this dish:
First about the sprout, i think they must cook the bone for a long time because when I taste it's really nice! Not about the seasoning or MSG it's truly from the bone i can taste it 😂
The bowl is full of colorful stuff (they filled the vegetables with the grinding fish):
- red chili
- bitter melon
- eggplant
- okra
- strings bean
Then pork skin, pork blood, fish cake, beef ball and tofu!

Famous noodle soup from Phu Quoc island!
Rice noodle (vermicelli), mashed fish cake, mashed shrimp cake, squid!
This noodle is very special because the way fish caked shrimp cake is cooked!
They will take one spoon of the mashed fish/shrimp -> squash it in a bowl -> pour the hot soup -> cover it in a few minutes until fish and shrimp is cooked!
This restaurant is in HCMC and they note us have to eat the right way thats why i took photo of the note 😂
Like they give you a sauce and you stir it well
DONT ADD ANY FISH SAUCE AND BETTER FLAVOR WITH SPICY!
And its so true 😋
So beautiful with black pepper!
