Mi Quang (Mì Quảng) is a traditional noodle dish from Central Vietnam, especially Quang Nam and Da Nang — where it’s considered a local pride.

It’s made with wide rice noodles (similar to pho noodles but thicker), a small amount of rich broth flavored with turmeric, and topped with a mix of shrimp, pork, or chicken. Sometimes it includes quail eggs or roasted peanuts for extra texture.

Lagu – A Taste of France in Vietnamese Cuisine 🇫🇷🇻🇳

Lagu (also known as ragout, derived from the French word “ragoût”) is a stew-like dish that originated from French cuisine and was introduced to Vietnam during the colonial period. In Southern Vietnam, especially in Saigon, locals adapted the dish to suit Vietnamese tastes and available ingredients.

Origins
• The French word ragoût refers to a slow-cooked stew, typically made with meat, vegetables, and a rich sauce.
• In Vietnam, ragoût was localized in both name and style — pronounced “lagu” and cooked with simpler, more familiar ingredients.

What makes Vietnamese Lagu special?
• Ingredients: chicken, pork, or beef; carrots, potatoes, onions, green peas… (vegan Lagu: use mushroom instead of meat)
• Seasoning: Instead of butter, cream, or wine like the original French version, the Vietnamese version uses fish sauce, five-spice powder, and coconut water — giving it a distinctly Southeast Asian flavor.
• Served with: French baguette or plain steamed rice — a perfect symbol of East-meets-West.
