Jessica Hein Interiors Jessica has rounded out her career over the last 15 years working for the best retailers and suppliers in the design industry.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, she has helped her clients design every space of the home, but specializes in kitchen and bath design, and has a passion for custom cabinetry. For Jessica, the most rewarding aspect of her career has been creating spaces for her clients though thoughtful space planning, solving functional issues, and pulling together the perfect materials and finishing touches. Jessica believes your space should be a reflection of you, your style, and most importantly, how you live in the space. In her spare time, Jessica loves to spend time with family, friends, her husband Josh, and daughter Ava. She loves summers in Minnesota, and you’ll most likely find her at a lake, lounging by the pool, or sipping on a craft beer.

What paint colors did we use in this project? Glad you asked!

The design direction for this project was earthy, modern, and a touch Scandinavian so when it came time to choose the paint colors for the cabinetry, we wanted something that would reflect that.

Secret Garden by was the perfect earthy, mossy green to reflect our vision.

Pure White was the perfect not too white white to compliment the warm wood tones used throughout the space.

4 Myths about Quartz Countertops

Myth #1 - You can put your hot pans directly on it.
While a lot of people get away with this without issue, it's never a good idea because a hot pan on a cold surface can cause cracking.

Myth #2- It's indestructible.
Quartz countertops are more durable than most other surfaces and natural stones, but like anything in life, they aren't indestructible.

Myth #3- Quartz won't stain.
Quartz is largely stain resistant, but that doesn't mean that it can't stain. Solid surface materials like resin are used in combination with the quartz that can and will stain. Although less likely to stain than natural stones, it's a good idea to wipe up those spills right away.

Myth #4- All quartz is the same.
Quartz countertops are made out of natural quartz as well as other solid surface materials like resin. The higher the quartz content, the more durable it will be.

That said- quartz is probably my favorite stone to use because of its durability and wide range of designs.

I absolutely love a BIG ASS ISLAND. Yeessss. The bigger the better. You will never regret not going larger, but there are a few things to consider...

Do you want seating and how many? This will impact the traffic flow around the island.

Be mindful of the walkways between the island and the other cabinetry, walls, or furniture.

Keep sinks and cooktops off of the island if at all possible- unless it's a prep sink.

If there must be either the sink or the stove in the island because of your kitchen layout, I will choose the sink over the stove every time.

Be mindful of how wide the island is because reaching to clean the center of it might become a pain.
