Meet the man behind Cooper’s Carpets 👋

I thought I’d tell you a little bit about how I actually got into the flooring trade, because funny enough… I never actually applied for a carpet fitting job! 😂

21 years ago, I was due to go round a mate’s house for a party and have a few drinks, as you do.

While I was there, my mate’s uncle Andy popped by. We got chatting and he mentioned that his labourer had let him down again and asked if I fancied going along with him the next day to give him a hand.

I said yes.

So, believe it or not, I didn’t even end up drinking at the party that night because I wanted a fresh head ready to start work with Andy the next morning! 😂

And that one decision changed everything.

I ended up working alongside Andy for 11 years.

From day one, I really enjoyed the work — preparing rooms, laying gripper rods, door bars and underlay, moving furniture and, of course, learning the skills of fitting carpets properly.

After 11 years with Andy, I moved on to work for Home Choice Carpets here in Whitstable, working alongside their son Jason for another 3 years.

Eventually, I decided it was time to take the plunge and venture out on my own.

Over the years I worked with a few different flooring shops as a subcontractor, gaining even more experience and meeting some fantastic people along the way.

Fast forward to today and Cooper’s Carpets is completely independent.

Our work now comes through word of mouth, repeat customers, Facebook and Checkatrade — and honestly, that means a lot to me.

After 21 years in the flooring trade, I still genuinely enjoy what I do.

I love walking into a tired-looking room and leaving it feeling like a completely different home. 🏠

We take real pride in our work and always aim to treat people’s homes as if they were our own.

Over the years I’ve met some amazing people, worked on some brilliant projects and learnt a lot along the way.

And to everyone who has supported Cooper’s Carpets, recommended us, used us again or simply shared one of our posts — thank you. ❤️

Freshening Up Hotel Rooms in Folkestone 🏨✨

Another job recently completed as part of an ongoing hotel refurbishment project in Folkestone.

The hotel rooms are being given a fresh new look, with the maintenance team getting each room cleared and ready for us to come in and fit the new carpets. 🧹➡️🧶

Once we’ve finished, the rooms are ready to go back into service and welcome new customers to enjoy their stay. 👌
