DESIGN TRENDS 2027
 
Interiors are becoming warmer, richer and more expressive.
 
Think sculptural furniture, soft curves and organic shapes combined with dark wood, natural stone and refined metallic details.
 
The colours are deep and sophisticated: burgundy, aubergine, chocolate brown and moss green. Bouclé, wool, velvet and suede add softness and texture.
 
Minimalism isn’t disappearing, but it is evolving. Less predictable beige, more personality, depth and character.
 
Furniture is no longer simply functional.
It becomes a statement.
A piece of art.
Something that makes a space truly feel like your own.

Today, I went to MAISON&OBJET in Paris, Villepinte.

A noticeably smaller fair this time: only four large halls instead of six, with around 400 fewer exhibitors than during the January edition. But for us, that actually wasn’t a bad thing. It meant we could comfortably cover halls 4A, 4B and 5 in one day, where most of the furniture and decoration suppliers are located.

We left early and were at the fair by 10:30 AM. By 8 PM, we were back home. Tired, but with our heads full of new ideas, trends and inspiration.

What stood out?
Organic shapes are here to stay, dark wood is definitely back, and colour is making a strong comeback. Think chocolate brown, burgundy, olive green, terracotta and dusty pink. Bouclé isn’t disappearing, but it’s facing strong competition from corduroy, linen, wool and other rich, tactile fabrics.

When it comes to decoration, we saw fewer little trinkets and more statement pieces: sculptural vases, striking lighting, art objects and handmade pieces.

My conclusion?
The safe beige base is here to stay, but it’s finally getting some edge again. More colour, richer fabrics, stronger shapes and above all, more personality.

And honestly, I’m very happy about that.
Because shouldn’t an interior tell a story?
