Born and brought up in Kintyre, I moved to Glasgow in 1999, where I began my tiling career alongside completing a degree at university. During this time, I gained invaluable skills both in the tiling industry and on a personal level. In 2009, I returned to Kintyre with my young family to continue my successful business. I believe very strongly in attention to detail and take pride in all that I do. All my work is completed to a high standard with excellent quality of workmanship. Work can be completed using a variety of materials including ceramic, porcelain, travertine, slate and granite tiles. On occasion, I am also asked to take on some other projects, either on their own or in conjunction with tiling jobs, which I am happy to do. Small job completed in Lochgilphead recently. Kitchen splashback, tiled using glass mosaics with a printed pattern adhered to the face of the tile. These were massively challenging to work with, as any attempt at cutting made the patterned face just flake off the glass. We got there in the end using a variety of cutting techniques. Cream coloured grout used to blend in perfectly.

Also for the same customer, a feature wall in a shower room. The same idea for the tiles, however these ones were smaller, and seemed to be a lot nicer to cut, thankfully! 😅

Nice wee bathroom make over in Campbeltown. Removed old, characterless wetwall panels and replaced with these lovely 300mm x 100mm metro tiles. Walls were fully waterproofed before tiling. The old floor was laminate, which was removed and replaced with these porcelain wood effect plank tiles. Great choice as they mimic the look of a wooden floor but with none of the upkeep, warping or fading over time. Subfloor was prepared using hardie backer board, and finished with grey grout. New sink unit, bath with wooden panel and shower fitted. All this was done while the customer was away on holiday, so a nice surprise to come home to! Thanks to Norman Thomson for the plumbing work on this one.

Just completed this full bathroom renovation in Campbeltown. This was for a family member and I assumed it would be tear out, resheet walls and install new tiles, but unfortunately not!

The old tiles had been installed over thin plywood which had been attached to the brick walls with the odd strap of timber here and there. This was one of the worst jobs I've ever encountered so I had to end up framing out the whole room for new walls prior to tiling. The floor was also in terrible shape, had been patched up in several places, sagged in the middle and dropped about 20mm from right to left so this had to be all pulled up and rectified too, before a new subfloor was laid.

This got me to the stage I'd hoped to be at after the first day when I'd removed all the tiles and old suite etc. 12mm Jackoboard construction boards were installed in the shower area, fully sealed on seams and screws and waterproofed ready for tiles. The rest of the room was sheeted with plasterboard.

The new timber floor was then primed ready to be reinforced by laying 6mm Hardie backer board. All the joints were taped and filled, to create a stable floor for the new tiles and to stop any cracking down the line. This was then primed and finally self leveller applied to get the floor nice and level for tiles.

In the shower area we used rustic metro style tiles, combining a patterned version and a plain version of the same tile to create a stunning feature shower area. The rest of the walls were tiled in a contrasting 600mm x 300mm subtly textured white porcelain tile. For the floor we used an oak floorboard effect porcelain tile to add some warmth. These were 900mm x 1500mm in size.

I used epoxy grout on this job, which is a lot more expensive than cement-based grout and harder to use, but has a lot of advantages. It's 100% waterproof, non porous and chemically resistant to mould growth etc.

Finally I lowered the ceiling and fitted 4 downlighters, in place of the original single ceiling light and did away with the old wooden window sill, replacing it with a new pvc one.

All in all, this one just grew arms and legs but is an amazing transformation of what was one of the worst tiling jobs I've ever laid eyes on. 😅

This splashback was completed for the same customer as the previous ensuite. Using stone hexagonal tiles, in different shades of green, they created a lovely vintage feel to their new kitchen. Grey grout from used to tie in with the tones in the tiles. Really finished it off nicely.

Haven't uploaded in a while so here's a recent ensuite done in Peninver! Shower and bath area tiled with 600mm x 600mm porcelain tiles, with the same tiles used on the floor. Nicer than many main bathrooms, this one! 👌
