This serious guy is seriously good at what he does. Over the years he saved me lots by saving my ailing tools and giving them a longer life.
This serious guy is also my son-in-law, I am proud to say…

Promotional shot for the business... 😂

I have worked with these guys for more than twenty years. Their range of native timber is second to none.
I am now retired, but would not go anywhere else. The next generation is driving it forward and working very hard on the core business, as well as branching out into new creative areas…

Sawmill and timber shop
Scottish hardwoods
Structural beams, joists cladding
Firewood and off cuts

Dear Facebook… I have not posted in a while, because I have retired. There is a clue here somewhere.

Job done... thanks to everyone for words of encouragement and advice. There is a happy rock chick in the house and miserable old git with a much needed sense of achievement!

I had just started adjusting to my great new workspace (thank you Dennis) when we went into the inevitable second lockdown. I managed the first lockdown quite well I think as I had lots of things to be dealt with and to look forward to. This time, having decided to retire (ish)... I am not sure of my direction yet. The old black dog joined me earlier in the month and he wasn’t a lot of help!! But now I have a wee project... Mandy bought an old Strat copy a couple of years ago and has asked me to pimp it... in essence, to change its gender. I now have to learn how to solder!

Facebook won’t allow me to change the name of this page, for some bizarre reason. I just want to call it Jim Stott retired, as on my personal page. I want to keep this page going as it connects with friends who share my interests...

A seasonal project for our home, this is the first thing I have made from scratch in my new workspace, etching by Black Rose, words by David Robert Jones...

Yesterday I spent the day in the care of Perth Royal Infirmary... this is the view from the window, looking towards the snow covered hills as I waited for and recovered from my wee operation. There are just two words to describe what I experienced... Kindness & Professionalism.

This is a photo for which I have been waiting rather too long. This morning, my remaining equipment was finally sent on its way... allowing me to draw a line under a sorry saga of broken dreams. I have officially retired, but I still have access to sawdust making facilities.
I am just retreating into self isolation for a week before I have a long awaited operation... then I will set about creating my very own new normal in eager anticipation of 2021. See you there...
