Oh lol, this was a good one! “What’s with the scarf old lady?”🤣🙌
“My badge of honour, sir”. As a mother, a grandmother and a woman with lived experiences.
I know we all have sentimental favourites, but as far as favourites go, this one will be worn with intention whenever I need to remember the purpose of what I am trying to do and why I want other woman to participate too. Last year I spent several months in the UK. And it was almost too late. During that time my daughter and her family spoilt me rotten and took me to several of the UK’s National Trust properties. (Bear with me, please.😅) It was an eye opening experience to see with how much reverence historical fabrics were treated. The significance textiles, from clothing to tapestries, held for their owners. It was valued then, and still is. It is in stark contrast to our relationship with textiles today. After I returned from the UK my daughter sent me this scarf they purchased from the National Trust - silk, precious in my eyes not only because of the giver and the memories I had of the places I visited with them, but also because I respect the fibre. Not man made. One day it will decompose, as part of the natural carbon cycle, like nature intended. The little scarf is a reminder to love fiercely - our family, all people, and our beautiful planet, and as custodians, to tread lightly, for the sake of those that will come after us. Here is looking at you little Lucy-darling. 🥰
