There is a particular kind of luxury found outdoors.

The most considered outdoor spaces are never left entirely to the sun. They are softened, filtered, and shaped by structure and intention - where canopies stretch like linen sails, pergolas cast shifting geometry across stone, and natural coverings blur the boundary between shelter and sky.

Here, shade is not an afterthought. It is by design.

A way of protecting not just from the elements, but of creating atmosphere, coolness beneath heat, stillness beneath light, and spaces that invite you to linger just a little longer.

The pieces that shape a home are rarely the ones chosen all at once.

They are gathered slowly over years. Items like a painting discovered while travelling, a sketch gifted by a friend, an artwork that quietly carries the memory of a moment, a place, a person.

Art gives a home its inner life, adds depth and create a sense of story.

The most personal interiors are not perfectly curated - they are layered with meaning, memory and emotion, becoming a reflection of the people who live within them.

NEW PROJECT SHOWCASE 📍 Sable Alley Camp, Botswana

Where still water mirrors the sky and elephants wander quietly to the lagoon’s edge, safari becomes something slower, softer… more intimate.

Designed by Michele Throssell Interiors, Sable Alley Camp is a masterclass in understated luxury. Think layered textures, natural materials, firelight and thoughtful detail woven seamlessly into the wild landscape of Botswana’s Khwai Private Reserve.

Here, interiors are not separate from nature, but deeply connected to it. Every space invites a feeling of calm, presence and quiet sophistication, allowing the beauty of the Okavango to remain the true focal point.

A safari experience designed to be felt as much as seen.

Every inch of Goose Villa is a celebration of Cape Dutch style, tradition is reimagined with ease.

In the bedrooms, South African design staples meet old-world classics. Layered textiles soften the spaces and invite rest.

For those drawn to this feeling, a selection of similar cushions is available online. Crafted by local artisans and thoughtfully curated by the Michele Throssell Interiors team, each piece carries its own sense of place.

They are released in limited runs. Once they find their homes, they may not be seen again. Thoughtful design with lasting appeal. Just as all meaningful pieces should be.

From the quiet stillness of the Karoo, to coastal Zimbali, and the layered wild of the Okavango. This is a study in materiality, and how wood can carry spaces.

Dark wood grounds a room, adding weight where it’s needed. Lighter tones lift and soften. The secret lies in the mix: finishes layered with intention, always in conversation.

Across cladding, fixtures, furniture, ceilings and floors, timber proves its quiet versatility. It can be stained to deepen, painted to soften, or left raw - its texture telling a more honest story.

Knowing when to refine and when to reveal is where the design begins.
Each application shapes a different mood, a different way of living.

Wood as a material is durable, forgiving, and endlessly adaptable.

As the seasons shift, so too can the rhythm of a space. Pattern is a subtle invitation to mix things up with gentle, playful intentionality.

Pattern begins to layer. A larger motif grounds the room, while smaller prints weave in detail and intrigue. Scale plays its part, never competing, always conversing.

Colour becomes the quiet thread that holds it all together, softly unifying, even as contrast is introduced. Solids offer pause, prints bring movement, and somewhere in between, a sense of balance settles in.

Because when done with care, contrast doesn’t overwhelm - it creates a kind of calm. A space that feels collected, lived-in, and entirely your own.

Some spaces breathe in warm white minimalism: quiet surfaces, soft light, and a sense of calm that lingers long after the morning coffee. Others lean into a more traditional maximalism: layered, expressive, filled with objects that tell stories of gathering, hosting, and living well.

There’s no single way to style a kitchen. Only a feeling you return to, again and again.

At Michele Throssell Interiors, each space is shaped around that feeling, crafted to reflect the way you live, whether through restraint or considered abundance.

A kitchen, after all, should feel entirely your own.

The final edit of our cushion collection is quietly dwindling, piece by piece.

These are the kinds of finds that feel discovered rather than bought. Crafted in limited runs, shaped by hand, and curated with intention.

The kind of pieces that don’t come back around once they’ve found their place, they’re part of someone else’s story.
