Sometimes the addition of an inner frame can really help to create a profile that better accentuates an image. Here, the stacking of frames allowed us to incorporate another colour instead of having the kiaat outer frame solely against the artwork, which could have created a much more bland finished product.

One of the more challenging things to frame for me is fragile items like these.
Brought to the studio in a vintage Fenjal soap bar case, wrapped in cotton pads, this was not only a mere shell, but a special memory.

Framed in a detailed champagne silver frame and raised peach matboard decorated with a v-groove.

One thing that is always much appreciated but also very dangerous is when a client utters the words : “Do whatever you see fit !”

While it’s great fun to play around and come up with your best combos yet, it’s always a gamble if the client will give it a thumbs up. 😅

Luckily this was the case in this instance. Some would say this is a bit overkill for a simple long service award, I say… shut up, nobody asked you.

Much like last week’s Sandra Pelser, I feel like Potchie is a staple in most South African middle class homes. Who hasn’t had a print or two of his on the walls ?

These however have bit of a different spin on them than the usual traditional style of framing.
