Today, on my way back from church this afternoon in Aba, I witnessed something that left me speechless, a newborn baby abandoned by the roadside😭.
My heart broke for that innocent child😭. No child deserves to enter this world and be left alone. As people gathered and expressed their anger, I found myself thinking not only about the baby but also about the mother.

What could make a woman carry a child for nine months and then leave that child behind? Was she a frightened teenager? A struggling young woman? An older woman overwhelmed by life's challenges? Was it fear, shame, poverty, rejection, loneliness, or desperation? We may never know.

This is not to excuse what happened, but sometimes behind a shocking act lies a painful story that many of us cannot see. Somewhere, there is a mother who made this decision, and somewhere there is a child who deserves love, care, and protection.

This heartbreaking incident reminds us that our society needs more compassion, support, guidance, and responsibility. We must do more to help vulnerable mothers and protect innocent children.

My prayers are with that baby and everyone affected by this situation. May that child find the love and care every child deserves.
