Finally this young lady is ready and standing on her feet (an achievement on itself ☺️). Now I just need to find an appropriate place for her.

My first cyanotypes on clay. I have been using coasters as test tiles. The orange color is because I did a first cyanotype on two of the coasters (one came out very light) and then I fired them on the kiln. The iron salts of the cyanotypes chemicals turn orange/brownish after firing. The second cyanotype has not been fired so the blue remains. Love that dark Prussian blue πŸ’™
For the more orange (top) one I used plants from Table mountain.
On the darker blue (bottom left) I used a feather.
The bird (bottom right) was done with a negative of a picture I took of a sunbird. It needs a longer exposure time as it is too light.
I am starting to get the hand of the process and the exposures for each type of cyanotypes but as we go into winter the sun will become weaker and the times will change. Cyanotypes get developed by UV light and I use the sun as I think is the more environmentally friendly tool available 🌞 it is a very experimental process. Fascinating!

Frangipani glory! It is the time of the year when the frangipanies are giving their best and the smell is so special and wonderful. I am thinking maybe I should make another Frangipani lady to celebrate.
