My formative years were shaped by One Direction. They’re the reason I started writing in the first place, and by extension the reason this page exists. Talk about a challenge! 😮‍💨 I was commissioned to do this piece - an enlarged and colourised drawing based off a very special, beloved photograph from over 40 years ago!
A full month of working finished, but I am so grateful to have been trusted with this job.

Today was a big day in my little life. I have officially entered my first ever art competition (except for that one in grade 5 but I’m not sure that counts).

This is my official entry into the Wildlife Artist of the Year.

I’ve always been desperate to draw a lilac breasted roller, they’re one of my favourite birds and always an exciting time to see them in the Kruger National Park. So when my uncle commissioned me to redo one of the ones in his holiday house, I was so excited!

Things have gotten a little weird on this side of things. In an attempt to share more regularly and dedicate time to creating something every day, this is the start of daily posts of any creative thing I’ve done 🙆🏻‍♀️ New Year’s resolutions and that, right?

The first flavour of that is the tiny Robin Hood miniature I painted for Laine and my favourite board game.

At the end of 2019 I asked an insanely talented wildlife photographer if I could use some of his photos as references for drawings. Well, it’s finally come time to start doing some of them!

It’s been a long time since I posted anything. But it’s been a crazy few months 🤷🏻‍♀️
I missed my game ranger sister on her birthday a little too much today, so I thought I’m her honour I would finally get around to doing a wildlife drawing.
There will be many, many more wildlife pictures from here on, where prints will be available as well as originals! Keep your eyes on the page in the next few days and weeks, perhaps you’ll get inspired to do some Christmas shopping 😉

Cleo pup crossed the rainbow bridge earlier this week. I remember the day my uncle brought her past our house years ago, when she was a tiny pup. She was all paws and ears 😍
You will be sorely missed Chewbacca ❤️

Unrelated however, one of my greatest grudge-bears is how the scanned drawings don’t translate the darkest tones and some of the texture of the page.. it’s something that’s been bugging me about posting my art for a while but I will figure out a way to fix it 😁
