When lighting your new fireplace for the first time, choose a day when you can open your windows and doors wide.
During the first fire, excess oils and paint residues from the manufacturing process burn off. This can create a hazy smoke and a noticeable smell in the room. This is completely normal and is simply part of the initial curing process. Keep the room well ventilated for a few hours, and the haze will clear.
