This week, we had the privilege of welcoming two industry voices to BHC to experience the creativity of our next generation of Cape Town designers. 🙌

Our third-year students recently tackled a bench design brief, exploring how creativity, materials, form and function can transform an everyday object into something considered and meaningful.

A huge thank you to Brent from Inova and Gareth Pearson from Cape Town Furniture Week for joining us to judge the students’ work and, most importantly, for sharing your time, expertise and incredible feedback.

Your insights gave our students an opportunity to see their work through an industry lens and encouraged them to push their thinking even further.

We’re incredibly proud of the talent, curiosity and creativity coming through our studios. The future of Cape Town design is looking exciting.

Well done to all our students who took on the challenge! 👏

Design education is strongest when theory meets practice.

Our learners recently visited Ergoform, gaining first-hand insight into the relationship between ergonomics, workplace design, materials and user experience.

Industry visits such as these allow students to move beyond concepts explored in the classroom and understand how design decisions respond to real people, real environments and real-world requirements.

Thank you to Ergoform for sharing their expertise and giving our learners an opportunity to engage with design in practice.
