These murals were scaled up by hand from plans and drawings given to us by the client. We had drawn up the first wall and were trying to mask up the murals when we realised that the walls were covered with old limewash beneath the new paint and when we pulled off the masking tape, the paint was stripped off to the wall base. Two walls had to be stripped with high pressure hoses before we could start from scratch. The logo had to be painted by hand as that wall still had limewash underneath so no masking tape could be used on it.
We tried something new with the lettering. We uses vinyl lettering sheets in reverse, as stencils. Vinyl lettering couldn't be used as it would have been easily picked off by visitors to the brewery. We have learnt that the surface needs to be as smooth as glass; otherwise there is extensive bleeding, which we had to rectify by hand - a mind-numbing and exhausting task. But the final product was worth it

Andy Graff, interior decorator and owner of Lankham House, wanted something representing old Cape Town on this large wall area, 7,65 metres x 3,6 metres. It had to link in with her maritime theme of the restaurant and match her budget.
The original design was scanned and printed onto fabric and then stretched onto canvas before being installed. The design was not printed as per our specifications by Artlab - we did not want each print to lie next to each other, particularly as badly lined up as these are. Unfortunately there was not time for a reprint.
On the mural, we added things that had meaning to the client - the Portuguese flag, the soccer ball, the tribute to Madiba (all agreed on that) - as well as images linked to Cape Town and the sea of yesteryear, to make the mural cost-effective but unique.

In the master bathroom, we hand - painted trees, flowers, birds and butterflies in a colour way to match the master bedroom. The mirrors are gold -leafed and distressed. The frog tables are rubbed and sealed. In the guest bathroom, the metallic stripes were to pick up a colour in the grass cloth wallpaper in the guest bedroom. The chevron table was to be finished in a high gloss

These "trees" were painted in a metallic paint from Midas and a blackboard paint. The metallic paint had great coverage and shine. The black "leaves" are to be the menu boards.

Friends of mine opened up a Fish and Chips Takeaway and needed the artwork for the venue done. Having never done a chalkboard or "chalk art" in my life before, I figured I would give it a bash. And working with the chalks from the Deckle Edge was wonderful. It was really great to be drawing again. I also helped design the logo. The colour "references" that I was given was the blue and yellow on a bag of grout. Thank goodness for the amazing guys at LT Paint Discounters. I took in the bag of grout and they matched the colours perfectly! That's service and expertise.

It's always fun to do the windows for Lorraine! She had these wonderful witches that she needed a background for. Each background has an item or 2 silver-leafed and an item covered in black Swarovski crystals - like a bat, the moon, the cat's eyes.

Unfortunately our client, the interior designer, fired the client, so this project never happened but we had some really nice ideas that hopefully we'll get to use in the future
